Canoeing Gear Bag
What’s the best way to affix gear in a canoe?
I’m going canoeing with my dad in the Boundary Waters for a week. I’ve been canoeing before, but not on a trip like this. We have two 115L dry bags full of gear and I’ve heard that many people tie them to the inside of the canoe for better stability and bouyancy etc,, but only sometimes. We aren’t going whitewater rafting but we do have 5 small sets of rapds. So here are the questions I have:
1.) When do you tie the bags down, and when do you leave them untied
2.) Where should they be placed? Center, or one in the front, one in the back?
3.) What is the best method for tying them in?
Is there any other relevant info I need to know about this subject? Thanks!
